Welcome
My name is Aleisha j Burgess, the following blogs are reflections on my learning and growth through 4001EDN. I ask that you please enjoy my words as i grow into a effective pedagogy.
Week One
Week One, Tutorial One… The Journey Begins
Through taking 4001EDN I aim to successfully acquire my ICT certificate, where I can practise effective pedagogy with my students. Therefore I believe in developing my skills so that I can support my students and be an effective pedagogy where I integrate ICT into the foundation of my classroom.
Through this week’s readings I have come to the understanding that national policies have influenced the use of ICT in learning in Queensland schools. I came to the understanding that although ICT is not a listed KLA in the ACARA documents, it is under development and will soon be a part of the Australian curriculum documents. In stating that, I believe that by surrounding myself with ICT and engaging ICT’s where possible I am continually updating and maintaining my skills to align with the required skills necessary to successfully teach and use ICT effectively.
During this week’s tutorial we had the great pleasure of having guest speakers from the Queensland Education department’s online learning tool - The Learning Place. The Learning Place is a secure eLearning environment that provides access to a range of digital resources and eSpaces for not only teaching purposes but also for learning, collaborating and networking. I can see the learning place being an incredibly effective resource as a teacher when planning and developing my ICT lessons for this course and during my practicum experience.
Overall I truly believe that this course will help me develop effective teaching strategies when using ICT in the classroom and introduce me to new learning tools that I can use in the classroom. I look forward to acquiring more skills and developing myself into a effective ICT pedagogy.
Until next time,
Aleisha Burgess
